The Rock-A-Silly Band has been making silly music for seventy-five years. (That’s dog years, for those of you paying attention. (In monkey years it’s four-hundred-twenty-seven-and-a-half years, but let’s not go there, ok?)) The name the Rock-A-Silly Band comes from the Latin phrase, “quod take caput meum ranae,” which loosely translates as “take that frog off my head,” which scholars attribute to Cicero, though Cicero always claimed he was referring to a toad, not a frog, though does it really matter? Hold on, this biography is becoming too silly! Let’s start over, shall we?
The Rock-A-Silly Band is a New York-based group whose unique mixture of music and wacky comedy leaves children and their grown-ups laughing, clapping and dancing in the aisles.The band formed in 2010, and in that time they’ve played to happy families around the New York area, with shows in Central Park’s Peter Jay Sharp Children’s Glade, Manhattan’s Carl Schurz Park, the Staten Island Children’s Museum and the Empire Outlets. The band has become a staple at the outlets headlining events and entertaining the crowds by the Staten Island Ferry.( with an amazing view of the manhattan sky line btw) The band also has a home base at the Staten Island Zoo, where they’re a fixture at two of the zoo’s annual events. Groundhog's Day where their song “Staten Island Chuck” has become a fan favorite and the always sold out halloween tradition Spooktacular. Their album “Let’s Get Silly” captures the banter and fun of their live performances, with songs like “Funky Monkey Dance” and “Cheers for the Broccoli” bringing joy to children and their families. .
